There’s a good chance you’ve heard something about the Moleskine line of notebooks over the past several years. Whether from a well-traveled neighbor who can’t live without hers or from one of about 300, 000 web journals, the Moleskine has gotten a tremendous amount of press; almost all of it good. And almost all of it true.
Unless you’re in a profession that has you under water 90% of the time, a good notebook is something that easily falls under the heading of ‘essentials’. You want something that is sturdy, made of excellent materials, and comes in a format that will meet your unique needs. The Moleskine is all of these.
All Moleskine notebooks have a cardboard bound cover with rounded corners and an elastic closure. This protects a body of acid free paper that it thread bound, not glued, for strength and durability. An expandable inner pocket made of heavy card stock and cloth is ideal for holding, well, just about any little scraps you need to keep.
Review their site to find the format and size that works best for you. Available many places online, and at Borders and Barnes & Noble in the real world.

Hello, my name is David Valley.
I’m interested in classically styled men’s clothing, well-designed and well-constructed products, great food and drink (and the places where they can be found), civility, and quite a few other things that are integral parts of a man’s life. I’ve looked all over the web for sites that bring these topics together in one place; providing information and a little entertainment - similar to the men’s magazines of the past. As far as I can tell there aren’t any.
So I’m creating one.
I plan to start small with this web journal that points to and comments on the types of things that I mentioned above. Over time I hope the site will evolve to include whatever else works; longer articles, other types of content, who knows.
Your comments are always welcome. Please let me know if you find the site useful. What do you like? What’s missing? What products (restaurants, tailors, books, sites…) do you recommend? If you have a question, send it. I’ll do my best to get you an answer.
If you know someone who might like the site, I hope you’ll send them the link. It would be great to establish even a small community of folks who appreciate these sorts of things.
I hope you enjoy Classic Style. To get updates automatically, be sure to subscribe via the RSS Link.
